Etheridge Shire Council

The administrative base for the Shire is located in Georgetown.

Georgetown is also the Tourist Information Centre for the region at Terrestrial Georgetown which has the Ted Elliott Mineral Collection along with Fossicking and Prospecting information. The Centre plays an important role in Tourism North Queensland and The Gulf Savannah Way. The Gold Mining history of the surrounding townships of Mount Surprise, Einasleigh and Forsayth creates a rich link to the past that spans several generations and makes this shire significant in Queensland’s Cultural Heritage.
