Councillor
Ian was born and raised at Gosford on the New South Wales Central Coast before joining the Army at the age of 17. Ian was allocated to the Infantry Corps and Served with the Royal Australian Regiment where he rose to the rank of Warrant Officer. Ian's service included postings and deployments across the globe including England, The United States and Egypt. Ian transferred from the Regular Army to the Reserve Army in 2002 when he was sworn into the Queensland Police Service. Ian served as a general duties officer on the Northern side of Brisbane before becoming a traffic officer with the State Traffic Task Force specialising in heavy vehicle enforcement. In 2014 Ian was selected as the Officer In-Charge of the Forsayth Police Division retiring from the QPS in 2024. Ian and his wife Kelly have since arrival been involved in a number of community organisations and have cemented their future within the shire by purchasing the Forsayth Tourist Park. Ian’s ambition is to serve the wider Etheridge community as a grass roots councillor with a passion for the development of infrastructure in support of the shire’s communities and industries whilst advocating for residents on all matters of interest.
