Water Supply & Use

WATER SUPPLY & USE

ImageOver recent years it has become clear that our current water usage across Queensland is not sustainable.  Our water resources are under increasing pressure as a result of climate change, population growth and increasing customer demand.  Etheridge Shire Council together with the State Government is taking steps to ensure we have sustainable water supply systems for future generations.  In 2005, the Water Act 2000 was amended to include a requirement for all Water Service Providers in Queensland to prepare, and submit for registration, a Drought Management Plan (DMP) for each service area/authority area in which the service provider supplies water.  Water restrictions do apply in all of the townships within the Etheridge Shire. Forsayth Water Restrictions: LEVEL 2

The following restrictions are effective from midnight on Sunday 22nd Nov 2020

Sprinkelers are permitted ONLY between 5pm to 8pm on allowed days. 

Zone A - Tuesday, Thursday, Saturday

Zone B - Wednesday, Friday, Sunday

Hand held hoses, watering cans or buckets can be used at any time.

Micro spray and drip systems fitted with timers can be used between 7pm to 8am on alternate days.

BREACHES OF THESE RESTRICTIONS MAY RESULT IN AN ON THE SPOT FINE.


Georgetown Water Restrictions: LEVEL 3

The following restrictions are effective from midnight on Sunday 22nd November 2020

SPRINKELERS ARE NOT TO BE USED

Hand held hoses ust only be used between the hours of 6am to 8am and 7pm to 9pm on alternate days excluding Mondays which is a non-watering day.

Micro-spray and drip systems fitted with timers can be used between 7pm to 8am on alternate days.

Zone A - Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday

Zone B - Wednesday, Friday and Sunday

Watering cans or buckets filled directly from taps can be used at any time.
