Council has been successful in securing a Work 4 Queensland Grant of $1million to build a Multi-Sports Facility, inclusive of a Community Gym in Georgetown by 30 June 2019.
A BIG THANK YOU to everyone who participated in the Community Input Survey for the Georgetown Fitness Facility!! It's great to have people's opinions, feedback & ideas on this project so that Council can pursue community priorities with the next phase of planning the facility.
It's important to note that all survey responses are considered valid, even the ones that highlight the need for community facilities such as swimming pools, aged care facilities and further fitness infrastructure to be provided throughout the Etheridge Shire. Council is encouraged to hear that community members feel strongly about the lack of available services & facilities. These are complex issues that Council fully acknowledges & is committed to a continued pursuit of grant funding to better provide for our Shire in the long term.
Reading through the survey responses, it was fantastic to gauge people's enthusiasm at the prospect of the facility and to hear so many thoughts that indicate the great potential this project could have! If you would like to express an interest in being part of the Advisory Committee to Council for the project, please contact Bekky via the details below.
All the responses that were completed (95 in total through both online and paper forms) have been collated through Survey Monkey & YOU CAN SEE THE RESULTS by clicking the link below. This data will be extremely useful in developing the plans for the facility. More details on this are coming soon so keep an eye out on our Facebook Page, the ESC Website & in the local INFORM Newsletter over the next few months.
If you have any queries about this project please contact Rebekah Haase, Economic & Community Development Officer on 07 4079 9002 or firstname.lastname@example.org.
